Did you know that Wilmington, North Carolina has a population around 100,o00 people. Cause I sure didn't! I was thinking, it was about the size of Grand Island, not a HUGE place, not that it's that huge, but it sure seems like it. The main street you come in on, is a never ending run of restaurants, strip malls, fast food places, and churches...my gosh there was church after church after church! Anywho....
I went to Wilmington with Emily to visit her boyfriend and my friend Michael. He is a police officer there and had to work during the weekend, so we hung out during the day while he was at work. We went to Because I said so, which is a funny and good movie! I recommend it!
Emily and Michael took me downtown, which confused me, because I knew Wilmington was on the ocean, I did not however, know that there was a river there too. Downtown is on the river, and when we left his house driving towards the sunset(west) and knowing the ocean was on the east, I was a bit worried. But they took me to the waterfront, which is on the river, and we had some dinner. On Sunday Emily and I went to the peninsula where the Cape Fear River meets up with the Ocean, that was a cool sight, I don't think I've ever been where a freshwater river meets up with the ocean. It was mighty cold though, the wind was awful...reminded me of Nebraska on a bad windy day. It was really interesting to see the fort that tried to keep Wilmington safe from the Union troops in the Civil war. I had a really good time, I really like Wilmington and was glad to have gone! If you get the chance, I recommend going!
I think I'm going to try and work some this weekend, I have a Lit Review to write, supposedly by the end of the month, but I'm not sure if that will happen. Also, if I work this weekend, trying to write, I might be able to make up some time during spring break. I haven't decided yet what I'm going to do. We get about a half a week off, then are expected to work the rest of the time, but I had kinda planned time with my parents that week up in Virginia. We'll see. Still a week to decide, but I can't believe Spring Break is in just over a week! CRAZY!
With that I leave you....
Love
