Sleepless
Good Morning...well it is almost 3:30am and I'm still awake. This is what happens to me on weekends I do nothing, and I LOVE it! I haven't totally done... nothing, I've worked hard on finishing up my mother's birthday present which is a time consuming project, her birthday was almost 3 weeks ago, I'm a bit behind. I've also caught up on my TV shows, even erased 6, 90210's that I've had since November, early November...like 11/1. I only have 12 more left, will I get them watched. The one time I forgot to fast forward through the commercials, I heard a Christmas song and was kinda confused...thinking wow, it's not Christmas! Then I realized it was from the show that was from forever ago! I've watched a couple movies I hadn't seen before, Cocktail with Tom Cruise (thankyou TBS for a new "old" movie to watch. I also had Take the Lead, a neat Ballroom dancing movie, based on a true story! And the highlight of my movie weekend was Music and Lyrics. I laughed the entire time, not everyone was laughing all the time, but I thought it was great! I'd like to own that one some day! It's just really funny...I have some favorite parts, that I had seen on commercials or clips from talk shows, and so when I knew they were coming up(from what I'd seen previously) I'd start laughing...and everyone's wondering what is Crazy Jerilyn laughing about...then it hits! BAM...aaaannnnnddd Laughter! I WIN! This weekend I even (well tonight after the Oscars, and watching The Amazing Race, so about 1:15is am) I started cleaning up a bit, and a bit before(during the oscars) started the laundry...and have done the dishes, put them away, started the dish washer and have even heard it finish up...they are drying now.
I hope this weekend goes by fast, with Friday comes a pseudo Spring Break. I'm expected to work about half of it, funny thing is, my parents will be here the whole time, and I don't want to work on spring break. So.....we'll see what happens. We are going up into Virginia, should be fun. I am excited to see them! I love it when they come, and they haven't been here since May and June last year...that's a long time! I've got a lot to do before they arrive and I hope I can get it all done. Yeah..it'll get done.
Wednesday marks the day when I'm supposed to have my second chapter into my Advisor...yea I don't see that happenin. I've got just about nothing down, and it's looking like it maybe closer to the end of March before I can really get something good down, but I'll do my best. I just feel like I need to be doing research, not writing...and when I try to write I procrastinate more than ever cause I hate it so much!
Good news! It's almost MARCH!!! In 5 months a week I'll be sailing the seas! Much to get done before then though...and with that I will attempt bed...I should get to work before noon tomorrow, but we'll see what happens!

Did you know?
Did you know that Wilmington, North Carolina has a population around 100,o00 people. Cause I sure didn't! I was thinking, it was about the size of Grand Island, not a HUGE place, not that it's that huge, but it sure seems like it. The main street you come in on, is a never ending run of restaurants, strip malls, fast food places, and churches...my gosh there was church after church after church! Anywho....
I went to Wilmington with Emily to visit her boyfriend and my friend Michael. He is a police officer there and had to work during the weekend, so we hung out during the day while he was at work. We went to Because I said so, which is a funny and good movie! I recommend it!
Emily and Michael took me downtown, which confused me, because I knew Wilmington was on the ocean, I did not however, know that there was a river there too. Downtown is on the river, and when we left his house driving towards the sunset(west) and knowing the ocean was on the east, I was a bit worried. But they took me to the waterfront, which is on the river, and we had some dinner. On Sunday Emily and I went to the peninsula where the Cape Fear River meets up with the Ocean, that was a cool sight, I don't think I've ever been where a freshwater river meets up with the ocean. It was mighty cold though, the wind was awful...reminded me of Nebraska on a bad windy day. It was really interesting to see the fort that tried to keep Wilmington safe from the Union troops in the Civil war. I had a really good time, I really like Wilmington and was glad to have gone! If you get the chance, I recommend going!
I think I'm going to try and work some this weekend, I have a Lit Review to write, supposedly by the end of the month, but I'm not sure if that will happen. Also, if I work this weekend, trying to write, I might be able to make up some time during spring break. I haven't decided yet what I'm going to do. We get about a half a week off, then are expected to work the rest of the time, but I had kinda planned time with my parents that week up in Virginia. We'll see. Still a week to decide, but I can't believe Spring Break is in just over a week! CRAZY!
With that I leave you....

They're done! and Valentines...
2006 Taxes filed......check!
So after my wonderful upbeat last post, I will try to be a bit more chipper! I've just finished filing and printing off what ever I need to keep for my taxes. I can't believe I'm done already, it's so nice to be finished with them. I should get my money back in the next couple weeks and then I will have a bit of cash to save for my trip! YEA! It's very exciting to have my money back! The last few months have been a struggle...still a struggle, I don't know if I'm spending more or if I'm getting less...my guess is a bit of both. Oh well taxes ends with a big YEA!
Tomorrow is the wonderful Valentine's day. I love valentine's day! Now that might be weird if you know me, and that I've never had a Valentine, but I still love the holiday. Maybe because I've never had a valentine I don't have a reason to hate it. I think it's a fun holiday, to show people you love them, someone doesn't have to be a significant other to tell them you care about them. Tomorrow should be a wonderful day! I have a meeting at 10, then lunch with Kelly, Bells and then Dinner with Emily! Thank the world for friends! I love all of mine! Embrace the holiday friends, embrace!
I wish you all the love in the world!

Life's Ups and more about the Downs
Ever have those times in your life when you can't pinpoint it, but you just feel out of place? Right now things just seem all a bit blah. This last week just didn't go well. Monday I didn't feel well, a bit depressed. Tuesday, I didn't feel well, I didn't have any energy and just felt out of it, so I went home early. Wednesday was ok till about about 1pm, then I just couldn't get through much more of the day, so I went home. Thursday was ok, but not great...the day seemed to drag, but soon it was over. Friday was a great day, the day I looked forward to all week. I had a meeting, we went to lunch, had some cake and I tried to do a bit of work. Talking seemed to be the extent of it though. So in all, the week just wasn't so hot. Last week was good, but this week I just felt out of place and even though I had happy parts I couldn't seem to pull myself out a small bit of depression. I know this probably doesn't make much sense, but oh well, I guess it doesn't have to. I'm hoping this week is better. I suspect part of it is the fact that I just don't enjoy doing research and I get bored doing it. I go each day with high hopes for what I will accomplish and I try to go in with a good mood, it just fades fast. Well enough of that, on to more. Have you seen something and realized that people have more or less forgotten you? It's a wonderful feeling. Perception is everything, but I do my best to look at facts, and even though I'm debated I usually have a pretty good memory. It's just hard when you believe something or remember something and it's nothing like what others remember. Hard. I guess you live you learn and life will always go on. I know this week will go on and I hope that it is better than last week!
Life is not without it's ups though, even though this week was more of a down, I did have some good things happen. I got to spend Monday and Thursday nights with friends for dinner, and yesterday Susan and I went to see Catch and Release. A good movie.
And with the beginning of this week near, I will wish for an UP week the whole week. I hope you all have an UP week as well! Sorry for the depressing post, but I've been thinking about it all week and just had to write on it. Thanks for listening. I will leave the post with a fun picture from last week, an UP part of the week!

Out she goes!
This morning was an eventful morning! I managed to do in an hour and a half what most people can accomplish in 10 minutes. I went into the student health to get a vaccine (shot), and I managed to pass out. I walked into the room and saw the two chairs and a desk. One chair for me and one for the nurse. Because of that, and because I'm not that comfortable, I didn't ask to lay down, which I know I should do. I felt like a nuisance if I asked that. My little way of saying something was "I don't deal well with shots." However this does not mean the same thing to me as it does to the nurses. To them it means "I don't like shots". Well who does. However, after the shot and thinking about it, the next thing I know I've got 3 people standing over me, they woke me up with ammonia and had a hard time getting my blood pressure high enough to be read. I got moved into another room where i could lay down, my pulse was around 48, a bit low. But after the doctor came and checked me over and sat with me for 20-30 minutes I got to finally got to go home. It was quite the ordeal!
On an up note, I turned in the first chapter rough draft of my Thesis to my Advisor! Yesterday was a wonderful day! It feels so wonderful to have a part of my thesis started. I would go absolutely crazy if I had to write it all at once, so this is very nice! Next month, probably the hardest chapter will be written, well this month, but I'm not going to start for a week or so. I'm going to have to read a lot and get stuff written, It won't be that easy, but I will try my hardest!

A night of firsts
Tonight I decided to be a bit daring. My friend Emily and I went to dinner at Michael Dean's, a restaurant that has a Monday special. The special is dinner for 2 for 40 dollars. Not to bad, you get a bottle of wine, a soup or salad, entree, and a appetizer or dessert. Well for little ol' picky Jerilyn (who is not so picky anymore and get that out of your memory!) everything I tried was new! Well except the wine, we had white Zinfandel. I tried calamari, which I didn't know what it was for sure, but when it arrived and I could see tentacles it was a bit scary! I still tried it though! I couldn't eat the ones that looked almost whole, but ate small pieces, and even eventually ventured to try the tentacles it ended up OK, but not necessarily my favorite food. One down! Then I had clam chowder, seeing as I know I don't like salad, I tried the soup. It was OK, not my favorite again, but heck I ate about half of it and i tried it! Right on! On to new thing #3 a pasta in pesto cream sauce. I've never had this kind of sauce before. By taking the mushrooms and spinach out of the pasta it was quite enjoyable. Then for dessert we had a chocolate chambord truffle. Pretty good, but very very rich especially for someone who doesn't really eat much chocolate! I tried the tomato vinaigrette dip for the bread and the dipping sauce for the calamari as well! A night of firsts indeed!
This weekend was pretty good, I got back into the wonderful Jerilyn habit of staying up really late and sleeping in! I went to bed at 4am on Saturday night and 3am last night. Tonight looks like it might be close to 2. This however does not help me get up at a decent time to get in to work. I have plenty to do tomorrow, including finishing up my writing, and create figures and citations. Who knows when I'll actually head home tomorrow night! I have almost 7 pages written for my methods section of my thesis, which I actually am quite proud about! I expect it to be between 10-15 pages once it is complete, but I have pictures and some more stuff to write, so I think I can hit at least 10, hopefully by Wednesday!
Should I be sitting on here in my freezing cold apartment, it's 60.1 degrees right now, typing on the computer at 1:30am??? No I should be asleep, or at the very least watching TV! Maybe I should actually turn the heat on, it's so cold that I'm sitting here in my sweatshirt with the hood up and my fingers are ice cold. I'm insane....yes! but I'm saving a bunch of money on my car insurance...HA, no I'm trying to save the little bit of money I can on electric! I'm off to warm up under my oodles of sheets and comforters!
