Since I've last posted, I've traveled for spring break, and had a full week of regular (kinda) work. For spring break my parents came out to the East, much like last year, but this year we only went into Virginia and saw some of the history there.
We started out on Wednesday of spring break in Richmond, VA. We went to Petersburg on the way up to Richmond and learned about the Civil war battles that were fought there. In Richmond we went to an old civil war hospital and a good museum that told the story with facts about 3 different sides of the war, the union, confederate and blacks. It was good and educational. From Richmond we traveled to Williamsburg which would be our base point until we left. In 3 days we saw the beginning and the end of the British in America. We started in Jamestown, where the first British colony was set up. It was quite interesting to hear about how people began to populate the area. The next day we went to Colonial Williamsburg, which is quite an adventure. You are in 1774, in the center of a town. It was interesting and fun. The day was pretty nice, so we didn't have to freeze, it had gotten colder the couple days before. Williamsburg was the capital of Virginia from 1699 to the early 1800's(if I remember right) before it was moved to Richmond. The last day we went to Yorktown and saw the last battle fought before the British surrendered. While in Williamsburg, we got to shop at a wonderful outlet mall and the BIGGEST Yankee Candle store in the world!!! IT was fun, I even got started on my Christmas shopping!
We headed back and I began my wonderful time back at school. Since my parents were still in town, I tried to go in early to work(didn't always work) and I went home at 5ish...a very short day for me. I got flowers which have been planted and brightened up my deck, and we even did some shopping until midnight on Tuesday night(wed morn). I love it when my parents are here! They left to go back to Kearney on Thursday morning, and arrived home late Friday night.
On Wednesday and Thursday we had a student visitor, a girl from Valpo (where Adam and Dr. Parker went). She seemed nice and fit right into the group. Thursday was a full day of meetings, lunch, showing her around the area and a dinner at. Dr. Parker's house, a full day, but a good one!
The weekend lead me into a wonderful sleeping pattern, I wish I could keep. I slept 12 hours Friday night and 10 last night. I loved it. I am now taking a break from writing part of my Lit Review for my Thesis. I have gotten more than I thought I would done, I mean I have crazy thoughts that I can just sit down and type things out, but it takes me much longer than that. I do have a good 350 words done...yes I know, not much, but it is good for me, trust me.
With this break, I hope that I can go back and write another couple hundred words and continue on with the lit review so that I have something semi-substantial to show this week for my work.
The week shall be a good one I hope, I thought it would be pretty empty, but almost each day this week has something out of the ordinary, which should hopefully help make the week go by faster. With that....Love
